Ash-Shirk al-Asghar (Minor Shirk)

Mahmood ibn Lubayd reported,“Allaah’s Messenger (ρ) said: The thing I fear for you the most is ash-shirk al-asghar (minor shirk). The companions asked O Messenger of Allaah, what is minor shirk? He replied, ‘Ar-Riyaa’ (showing off), for verily Allaah will say onthe Day of Resurrection when people are receiving their rewards, “Go to thosefor whom you were showing off in the material world and see if you can find any
reward from them."Reported by Ahmad, at-Tabaraanee and al-Bayhaqee in az-Zuhd, See Tayseer al-‘Azeez al-Hameed, p.118.

Mahmood ibn Lubayd also said, “The Prophet (ρ) came out and announced, ‘O
people, beware of secret shirk!’ The people asked, ‘O Messenger of Allaah, what
is secret shirk?’ He replied, ‘When a man gets up to pray and strives to beautify
his prayer because people are looking at him, that is secret shirk.’”Collected by Ibn Khuzaymah.

An Hadeeth

Reported by `Adi bin Hatim (RA): Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "Everyone of you will speak to his Rubb without an interpreter between them. He will look to his right side and will see only the deeds he had previously done; he will look to his left and will see only the deeds he had previously done, and he will look in front of him and will see nothing but Fire (of Hell) before his face. So protect yourselves from Fire (of Hell), even by giving half a date-fruit (in charity)". (Riyad us Saliheen, Chapter 50, 405)

The Islamic etiquettes of dressing emphasise:

    Modesty, humility and decency
Dressing in the manner that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) did.

Remembrance of Allah and thanking Him for the clothes He has given us.

Covering those parts of the body that Allah has commanded us to cover.  That is, from the naval to the knee for men (preferably the chest, arms and upper calves also), and all but the hands and face for women (although it is preferable to cover the face and hands also).

Putting on clothes starting with the right side of the body, and removing clothes starting with the left side
Avoiding clothing which is forbidden.  e.g. men are not permitted to wear clothing that is entirely red, gold or silk, and neither gender is permitted to imitate the non-believers or the opposite sex
Allah says in the Qur'an:

"O children of Adam! We have bestowed raimentupon you to cover your private parts, and as an adornment, and the raiment of righteousness, that is better.Such are among the Ayah of Allah, that they may remember.(ie leave falsehood and follow the truth)"    (Qur'an 7:26)

The characteristics of Ad-Daa'ee(The Caller).

The Arabic term da‘wah is derived from the verb , da‘aa which means “to call, to
invite, and to supplicate, i.e. to call on God”. It is used to refer to the act of conveying or
calling people to the message of Islaam. In that context it is a contraction of the phase ad-da‘wah ilallaah [calling to Allaah ]

“Say: This is my way and I invite to Allaah with certain knowledge ...”(Soorah Yoosuf 12: 108)

Da‘wah was the basic mission of the prophets of God. They were raised up among their
respective people to call them to the worship of Allaah (swt) alone and to abandon the
worship of the various false gods that they had invented.

Today's Beautiful Hadith is about Good Deeds

It is reported on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) observed: He who believes in Allah and the Last Day should either utter good words or better keep silence; and he who believes in Allah and the Last Day should treat his neighbour with kindness and he who believes in Allah and the Last Day should show hospitality to his guest.

Sahih Muslim Book 001, Hadith 0075

Today's Beautiful Hadith is about Allah

Reported by Jarir bin `Abdullah (RA): We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) when he looked at the full moon and observed, “You shall see your Rubb in the Hereafter as you are seeing this moon; and you will not feel the slightest inconvenience in seeing Him.”

[Bukhari & Muslim]
